About

UNITED - METHODIST - YOUTH - FELLOWSHIP

As a ministry of Centenary United Methodist Church, our mission is to provide a safe place where young people can explore faith, build friendships, study God's word, and have lots of fun along the way!

Dinner Every Sunday (unless noted otherwise):

Each Sunday night at 6:00pm during the school year, our youth share table fellowship and a meal provided (typically) by a youth family. Dinner ends at 6:45 and our time of community study and sharing begins at 6:55. You are welcome to come as early at 5:45 for fellowship, prayer or just to hang out together. Parents and others may sign up to provide a dinner by clicking on the "dinner" tab above.

Community Bible Study and Sharing Time:

Our regular Sunday night gathering begins at 6:00 and is diverse in themes, opinions, and expression. We come together for the sharing of praise, lament, discussion, song, dance, crafts, and wasting time with God on Sabbath. This Spring we have chosen to take part in the process of "storying" our way through some of the major narratives of the Hebrew Scriptures. Each week youth and adults will be invited to imagine these biblical narratives in new ways and discover how our stories intersect with the story of God.

Once-per-month (at least) missional outreach:

At least once a month our youth practice Christ-like compassion for others by volunteering with Love Wins Ministries in Raleigh, NC which is an outreach to the poor and homeless in the Moore Square area of downtown. Each fourth Saturday, we share biscuits, coffee and conversation with people who live outside as an expression of Christ's love for all people.

Leadership Team and Adult Advisors:

The Youth Leadership Team is a group of four to eight youth members of our United Methodist Youth Fellowship who gather on the third Sunday of each month to get some work done that benefits entire community. We meet monthly, usually Sundays at 4:30pm. Meetings are open to any members.

Current Youth Leadership Team:

Emily Edwards (president), Laura Oldham (treasurer), Kate Fleming (historian), John Hess (Senior High Represenatitve), Miles Fleming (Junior High Representative)

Current Adult Advisors:

Andrew Tatum (youth director), Becky Kinkade, Chris Kinkade, Jenn Velardo, Les Stone
